‘This is an opportunity to view new film created by the rising stars of tomorrow, as hand-picked by the leading talents of today.’ (Aesthetica Magazine)
This quote from Aesthetica magazine exemplifies how Shooting People’s Film of the Month initiative works to promote the work of independent filmmakers by giving them the kind of industry support they need.
Shooting People are also thrilled to announce that April’s judge for Film of the Month will be award winning director Martha Fiennes. Best known for her films “Onegin” and “Chromophobia”, Martha is also known for her work on numerous music videos. This high-profile patron of Shooting People will be extolling her wisdom on three lucky filmmakers who make it through to the final three.
How it works….
Each month, Shooting People Members view and rate their peers’ film, creating a shortlist of three. These are then sent to one of Shooting People’s high-profile patrons, who give a personal review of each of the three, and choose the Film of the Month. These are then promoted heavily on shootingpeople.org, and through their partner organisations globally. This extended network reaches some two million people.
Previous competition judges have included Mike Figgis (dir. Leaving Las Vegas, Timecode), Morgan Spurlock (dir. Supersize Me) and Stuart Beattie (wri. Pirates of the Caribbean, Collateral, Australia).
