Has anybody here made VHS tapes for promo?
I have a short weird horror I'm thinking of recording VHS tapes of for marketing purposes. Sending them to distributors or horror festivals, in addition to my digital files. I think it could grab their attention, especially with distributors who are interested in releasing 80s style films.
Has anybody done this before? I'd be getting the tapes done through these guys http://duplication.ca/vhs

I've seen similar marketing, like bands releasing on cassette tape only. But these bands are famous. It can work for them, and they can afford to release via gimmick. Can you?

You may be able to accomplish the same thing with your art design. Like, on your poster, you could make it look throwback and say now available on VHS. That would get a chuckle without the expense and risk.
