Most artists and moving image practitioners will at some point consider using music in their work, whether existing tracks, music performed from existing scores or working in collaboration with a composer.
Accessing and incorporating music and sound material into moving image work is technically relatively easy, however problems can arise if the copyright for this material resides with someone else and the work
is to be shown in a public context – galleries, cinema, television, etc.

Lawyer
An Own It lawyer will cover the basic principles of copyright. But the major emphasis of their talk will focus on the law as it applies when you want to use someone else’s copyright, when clearances are necessary
and needed, what legal paperwork needs to be in place, contracts, showing work in public, and what should be included in any agreement and what it needs to cover.
Film maker/artist producer - Cairo Cannon
Cairo will outline real life case studies that looking at the process of negotiating clearances on music with existing copyright, working with a composer and other options for incorporating music, and will show
some clips of work.
