MA History Museum to host stunt-fighting workshop
Press Release
2006.01.24
WOODLAND HILLS, CA – The Martial Arts History Museum, a non-profit charitable organization, will be hosting a special Stuntfighting Workshop taught by film director and famed fight choreographer Art Camacho. The workshop, which will take place on Feb. 25th, is set to provide a series of techniques and movements that are extremely beneficial in learning how to become a stuntfighter in action films.
“Teaching people how to break into films as a stuntfighter is something I enjoy,” says film director Art Camacho. “It’s so easy to get hurt when doing things the wrong way and there is so much to learn when you want to look good on film.”
Art Camacho has been a leading fight choreographer in Hollywood for over two decades with such films as Sweet Valley High, Fists of Iron, Half Past
Dead and more. Camacho has also become one of the leading film directors for action films. Some of his work includes Redemption, Gangland, Confessions of a Pitfighter and more.
In addition to teaching stuntfighting at this workshop, Camacho will also be including essential tips on how to break into the industry, especially for stuntfighting work. “It’s not easy to get into films. It’s actually very hard. However, one of the things I am able to do as a director, is to bring some of my own people into a film. Workshops like these allow me to know you and it is those people who I look to first for putting into a film,” notes Camacho.
The entire proceeds from the Stuntfighting Workshop will be donated to the Martial Arts History Museum. “Art Camacho’s schedule is extremely busy and this is a rare opportunity [that] people who want to get into films will truly appreciate. If there is anyone who can actually get someone into a film, it’s Art Camacho. This is a wonderful thing he is doing for the museum,” says Museum president Michael Matsuda.
The Stuntfighting workshop will take place at Team Karate Centers gym at 21038-A Victory Blvd., Woodland Hills, CA. from 2:00 pm to 8:30 pm on Feb. 25th. Cost of the class is $95 or $75 for Museum Members. Participants are asked to bring their resume and headshot in order to be included in Art Camacho’s database for possible casting for his upcoming film.
