location permits

Alcove pretty much covered you here, but I thought I'd just throw my two cents in regarding filming at the airport. I would advise against that, that seems like it'll be incredibly, incredibly hard to get a permit for for so many reasons.

Permits cost $$$ and most require you to have 1-10 million insurance as well - so more $$$$. If you have the money then sure go for it, otherwise as Beatlesfan1225 hints consider guerilla filming.

Airports with their tight security would likely close you down very very quickly unless done very discreetly.

Don't even think about going guerilla at an airport in the NY metro area. Despite the few lapses reported by the media security is very tight, and facing firearms and the subsequent problems with law enforcement and the courts just isn't worth it.

Yeah, just guerilla film your stuff in low key places that don't have an incredible amount of armed security ;)

I just mentioned this in a recent thread, which I'll link below, but most the time, if your crew is very small and discreet, you can do whatever you want within reason. Say you're a student, too. That's always been a great cop-out and usually security guards just ask me politely to leave, or decide to leave me alone when I use it.
