Lens Care

I remember from class the instructor recommended we never rub a lens and use a compressed air can to blow a lens clean instead. This is also recommended for cleaning sensors that detect light.

Does anyone have anything to add to lens caring practices?

I'll never use compressed air on a lens. It's simply how I was taught and how I teach others.

I use a rocket-style blower to get dust off and then use lens cleaning fluid (Rosco or Panchro) and lens tissue (Rosco or Kimwipes) to get anything that needs a bit more.

Definitely never use your t-shirt.

Don't obsessively clean, only when it needs it, to avoid causing more scratches and coating wear.

Oh, and Jax was right - never use a t-shirt. It's easy to get it caught on a bayonet mount and tear it. I find jeans are much more resiliant. ;)
