Hello. Please recommend books or other sources you found helpful as an independent, producer in obtaining the language in the contracts needed for the myriad cast and crew positions and during other stages of a film's production. I would prefer a source that contains its contract information in a digital format. Thanks

"Pocket Lawyer for Filmmakers" by Thomas Crowell is the book you want.

As for freebie digital contracts, I can't help you. I can't go over each one to make sure they're properly worded for your needs, see?

But basically an ideal simple micro budget contracts state that the person signing the clearance gives you full ownership of their images and work on the project (including crew) for ZERO compensation and you are free to use the images AS YOU SEE FIT.

You can give people petty cash daily for showing up on the set.

Once you're getting into different levels of compensation and, especially, points, things get very complicated and the contract forms you need might have to be custom made.

Make sure and document that you paid them if you pay them in cash (ex- have them sign a cash receipt).
