Just out of curiosity...

...Is there anything I can proactively do to protect this series idea we're putting out on the Web?

Basically, my brother and I are in the process of marketing content to build a following so that we can eventually either go through Kickstarter or Indigogo and crowd-fund a pilot episode. At the same time, we're also building a pitch so that when everything's done we can start searching for investors to help us produce the rest of the series.

I'm just concerned that in the process building the pilot, someone may come along and steal it. Is there anything I can/should be doing right now while we're in the infant stages of development or am I getting ahead of myself?

Also, as a side question, what do you guys feel are some general things I should be producing before I walk into a meeting room with big wigs? Should we have a lot more than just a pilot and a pitch?

Thanks a bunch!

Take a good look over this website and the FAQs there

http://www.copyright.gov/help/faq/

It'll explain how copyright works and how it protects you.

Other than that, you're getting ahead of yourself. Unless of course you would like to trademark the title of your series..

but that would be both expensive and excessive.
