Just ordered a Canon HV30. Thanks for all the info about DSLRs vs Camcorders. I was leaning towards a T3i and even maybe a T2i(found one new for 5 hun). I wanted something for interviews and longer stretches at one sitting so camcorder it was. This site has been a huge help. Next up editing software.
