We just got back from Strasbourg, France, where our film had it's World Premiere at The Strasbourg International Film Festival.
The Why, which Steve Balderson has called “A complex narrative that lifts it above most other guerilla filmmaking…A twisted riddle with many layers begging to be explored” and “Crazy! You’ll need a lobotomy after this” is a provocative, experiential journey through life, death and the intangible, ethereal inbetween. The film deals with the very human nature’s of a love lost, attachment, and the self-destructive nature of memory turned obsession. The Why takes place simultaneously “In Life” and in “The Nowhere Place”- the place of memory. The film revolves around 3 characters at the moment of death, an endless, ever-shifting and looping moment, existing in a place absent of love, absent of hate, and absent of reason. The tighter they hold on to the illusion of what was, the farther out they spiral, into a dark, surreal suspended animation of the mind. Official Selection Strasbourg International Film Festival.
