What is it w/ Southside Coffee Co. in the unknown town of Lompoc, CA. Last night everybody swore that the guy standing next to us was the cop in "2 Fast 2 Furious" but nobody could think of his name. I just looked it up to find out it's Mark Boone Junior, star of "Greasewood Flat" that was discussed earlier on this forum regarding it's AZ premiere. Wasn't sure if it was him but everybody looked him straight in the face.
Then yesterday Ron Howard's actor-brother Clint, was in there. He actually goes in there all the time. And when Alexander Payne was up here shooting "Sideways" his production team was scoping out Southside Coffee Co. as a possible place to shoot, although they ended up using another cafe. Steven Seagal was also known to be in there a lot when he used to live in Santa Ynez.
It's all pretty funny since this is the place we first started shooting all of our movies (the cafe in "A Normal Life" and "The Snake's Kiss Good-Bye" is the fabulous coffee shop we're talking about). So far we are the only filmmakers who have ever shot a movie here, but the actors keep coming in here to chill, too bad we haven't gotten any in any of our movies.
-not totally sure if that was Mark Boone Jr. but all the other actors and Alex Payne's production team were for sure. Alexander actually requested a copy of "Isolation" when he saw our flyers, which of course, we gladly gave him a copy. Shane Ryan (dir. of "Isolation") said he's one of the nicest, coolest Hollywood filmmakers he's ever met, so that's always good to hear. Check out Payne's movie "Sideways" this fall.
