Irreversible

This movie has come up many times in the different forums but I was just curious about what you all thought. I've heard alot about Gaspar Noe, and I've heard a lot about the scene with the fire extriguisher. I went out and bought the movie and watched it and I found that the most unsettling part of the film, was the camera work in the beginning portion. The death scene and the rape was quite disturbing but the way the camera spun and swirled everywhere was what I thought was the most uncomfortable. What'd you guys think?
Also the back of the DVD says that this film brings filmmaking to a new level. Do you agree?

Irreversible is one of those movies that begs to be seen by those mature enough to see it. It's a shocking statement about human behavior and human emotion. I would recommend it to anyone who can stomach realistic violence and has a pure motive (I mean, don't watch it just to see Monica Belucci nude).

Totally agree with Poke. I thought it was a brilliant concept. But the violence is raw. Very raw... as raw as a raw thing!
I had to turn away at points... didn't really enjoy watching a graphic rape scene - funny that?
To be honest I think the extent that violence was used in the film was breaching on the Sensational. It was in there for the shock factor, some of that factor was necessary, the other was voyeuristic and base.
Point over.
Out.
ROCK!

Yea it was kinda errie how Belucci's rape scene was like the only scene in the enitre movie that was filmed with a steady camera. That I thought was more unsettling then the violence. The violence was just a shock factor like Shot said, and it was more startling...

I've read alot about it but still am yet to see it. I've heard that it's REALLY graphic though. I think it was film link magazine that had a big article about it..
