Intro for wannabe filmmaker/actor

Hey everybody... quick intro for, as the title says, an aspiring filmmaker and actor. I have a group of friends here in Missouri, we all met in a college acting class... we always hang out and talk about how we wish we could afford film school, and how we wish we could afford to move to "this city" or "that city" to try to get jobs in the film industry... However recently we have decided a better use of our time would be to get together and work on film projects, which is what we are doing now... Right now our group shoots everything on a Canon EOS DSLR (I don't know the model, it is not mine). However with tax returns on their way I'm doing research on which camcorder to buy when my check gets here!

From what I've seen this looks like a great site filled with great people!!

I'm new here to, and I love it.

Lots of great people for sure.

What kinds of film projects has your group done already.

What role do you play - acting, writing, ???
 
I guess how I words that could be misleading, we as of yet have filmed nothing. However we are meeting tomorrow to work on an idea that I have for a short film, I am primarily an actor, but I'm looking to gain knowledge of all aspects of filmmaking.

It's not so much the job I do (non-union ironworker) which is not really a "dream job" by any stretch.. but what makes it bad is the company I work for.

I'm by no means complaining though, I'm glad to have the work.
