I'm using Google to find independent film magazines and sending out query emails asking for a review of my pilot.
Hopefully, I'll make contact with a magazine editor who is interested.

Good to know. If so, it will be the first time I paid a fee for such a review. The NYIFVF is notorious for chasing after filmmakers to charge outrageous fees to get into their festivals and they charge additional fees for a write up in their magazine they do in the form of a favorable write up.

Both Rogue and Independent Critic reviewed my film. One Rogue reviewer named my film to his 10 Ten indie of the year. In both cases, I asked if they wanted to look at my film first before sending it. Indie Critic was fast, Rogue took quite a while. No fees.

Yes, I've had films reviewed by both of these. Film Threat does charge (like $7 or something) just to get the volume down to a level they can handle.
One of two paid off so far. They will review my production and post it in their next issue. No charge and the editor is impressed the production is 100% self funded without support from crowd funding. Fingers crossed for a good review.

Google the independence film magazines listed here and google for other independent film magazines and go to their websites and look for the contact links. Most email addresses start with editor@ or editors@

I got turned down by a big distributor in Japan. But, at least he looked at the trailer and had the courtesy to reply.
