In camera microphone ?

Hello there .

Unfortunately I don't have any money right now to spend on a microphone . My film barely has any dialogue , however I need to record a lot of random sounds such as foot steps , door closing etc .

I was wondering if I can go on set with no crew or anything , remove the AGC on my T2i with Magic Lantern and just start recording foley with my build in microphone .

Do you think this will work out ?

Yes, it will.

Let's be practical.
You got what you got.
And you don't got what you don't got.

Whether it's applying for a job or flirting with a girl, you got what you got. There's little fooling anyone for very long about what skills and attributes you bring to the table.
Likewise, with filmmaking it's the same deal.
Make your film with the equipment you have.

By all means ALWAYS turn off or disable that miserable AGC. Forever. It's a POS on any audio recording device.
Collect your audio samples with the lens cap on using the on board mic, process/clean up/tinker with them in whatever audio editor you have, save as WAV files, then assemble them in your NLE.

Don't forget for more "exotic" sounds to go hunting for free public domain sounds.

Almost all the sounds in my videos are from my $120 poopycam's onboard mic.

Not terrible. Not the "BEST!" But acceptable.

You can try but the quality will likely be far from good - may still be good enough for you though.

I presume you have some sound editing software...

Probably the best no-budget solution is to try to get the sounds for free - eg:

Free sound clips and sound special effects

...just one of many type sites

update: rayw and I posted at the same time so sorry for the somewhat duplicate content
