I think he got it from George Lucas, I think he was the first after the director's guild fined the hell out of him for breaking the rules with The Empire strikes Back.
Personally, I'd like to work with Robert Rodriguez than Quentin Tarantino, although I like the films of both directors. Robert still acts like the guerilla filmmaker and Quentin acts like he's been corrupted by the Hollywood system by letting money talk.
