Hi

Looking forward to learning a bit more, I'm a Writer/Director/Producer from London and have a group of around 100 filmmakers who we hope to make films through.

Have had a question in the community about the best indie film tripod to use for shooting with a canon 5d mark 3 with extras such as long lens, matt box, monitor extra attached.

So far have come up with

1) Manfrotto 546BK legs with the 504HD head
2) Libec RS-450
3) Vinten Vision Blue
4) Sachtler Ace

Any thoughts on above, I've heard that 1) Manfrotto should be discounted as its not very good, the 4) Sachtler is a little on the light side so not great if you have all the extras attached on the canon, but heard good things about the other 2 the Vinten and the Libec.

Any thoughts?

thanks
R

Welcome,

100 film makers is a quite a number at your disposal :)

Of the Manfrottos I've used I was happy enough with DLSR filming (with or without the extras like Matte box, lenses and monitor).

The Libec or Vinten appear a bit better IMO but I've not used any of them. With a dslr, even with extras, I think most decent tripods should support the weight. Perhaps depends on how heavy the monitor is
