Hi guys ~ an aspiring 7D filmmaker
Hello everybody.
This is my first post around here and a quick introduction.
I've had passion for camcorders since my dad first got one in the early 90ies, when I was about 3. I grew up in eastern Russia, by the way. At 15 I started Adobe Premiere 6.5 for the first time and began familiarizing myself with editing, making mostly music videos using other movies/cartoons footage as well as everyday footage I shot at school. Those works were generally well-received. I also worked occasionaly on a local mid-size news show that my mother was producing, so I got see what professional TV equipment looks like and how the TV people work. At 16 I made my directional debut with two short action scenes on which I collaborated with a 3D-making friend and starring me and another friend of mine. Here's that $0 production in case you want to check it out, made in 2007 (that was the year Die Hard 4.0 came out, hence a little referrence at the end)

Ever since, I have been saving and researching, dreaming about making successful shorts and features someday.
Now I am 19, 3rd year student getting my non-film-related major in university. However, for various "elective" requirements I have taken two Film Studies courses, a theater course, and this upsoming year I'm also taking screenwriting and political cinema courses. So I pretty much pursue film-related education with every chance I get. Usually I spend 2/3 of the year in BC, Canada and 1/3 in Moscow, Russia. Just about two weeks ago I FINALLY got a Canon 7D.
So right now I am pretty much just a young filmmaker out there, with only a camera, a tripod, some editing skills, and a couple script drafts on my hard-drive and an enormous passion for the art of motion picture. Just like everyone else.
Right now I'm seeking for opportunities to make video projects to improve my skills and learn from people, as well as writing my first feature, which would be a pretty ususual, fast-paced neo-noir flick. I am writing it with a lot of attention paid to the characters' lives and the depiction of society. Nolan-style non-linear story and some thought-through action scenes are also there. So I'm hoping to spend the year 2010/2011 developing the script, acquiring the necessary directing and budget-spending experience and the budget itself. Trying to be realistic and not rush into it.
So I hope I can find some education/connections/feedback/support in this community as well as be a good IndieTalker to have around.
Cheers!
