Several Academy Award nominated Michigan filmmakers will participate in the first annual Detroit Oscar Film Festival, 3:00 pm Sunday, January 13 at the Music Hall Center for Performing Arts, 350 Madison Avenue, Detroit. This festival seeks to recognize the achievements of some of Michigan’s most accomplished filmmakers. The featured filmmakers include:
• Jeannine Claudia Oppewall of West Michigan, a four-time Oscar nominated art director responsible for such brilliant films as L.A. Confidential, Pleasantville, Seabiscuit and The Good Sheppard.
• Heidi Ewing, originally form Farmington Hills, who co-directed Jesus Camp, the Oscar nominated documentary that examined the controversial evangelical summer camp Kids of Fire.
• Birmingham resident and member of the Michigan Film Advisory Commission, Sue Marx, and her partner, Pamela Conn, who both won an Oscar in 1987 for joint efforts on short subject documentary, Young at Heart, a Detroit romance saga.
Their films will be screened in various rooms throughout the Music Hall, and immediately following, the filmmakers will offer some insight about the progression through their individual projects. Also as a part of the first annual Detroit Oscar Film Festal, a selection of short films by independent filmmakers will also be screened.

The party will be held at The Garden Lofts, 2436 Woodward Avenue, Detroit located at Woodward Ave and I-75, presented courtesy of Crosswinds Communities home builders.
Several local restaurants will provide dinner and a fashion show will be presented by G by Guess? and local designers En V Us Couture and The Intrinsic Collection. The launch party is also sponsored by Barefoot Wine.
The party is 21 and over, and tickets are $10, available at www.igorfilms.com and at the door.
