Graphic Novel film option price

Hi,

I'm working on optioning the film rights to a graphic novel. The book didn't do too well and was overlooked upon release for the most part.

I have previously optioned a novel, but this is the first graphic novel that I am optioning the rights on.

I know what I paid for the option on the novel, which was an obscure cult book.

Does anyone know if the film option price for a graphic novel is similar or close to what it is for a novel?

It may well be different for every book.

If it didn't do well, the author is probably likely to be more open to a lower fee. On the other hand, did it not do well because the marketing wasn't good, or it came out at the wrong time, something along those lines -- or because the story just isn't very good.

I'd consider that pretty strongly before thinking about optioning something.
