color-grading Grading --> Online "Frankenstein" clip

Hey

Our Workflow is Editing (fc,avid) ->EDL,XML->Grading (DaVinci) ->QT movies + EDL,XML -> FLAME

We are more focusing on commercials, that means a lot of versions of finals, and a lot of Shared source files, cutdowns etc.

I have a problem with "Grading -> FLAME" part of workflow. Usually most of film PostProductions use image sequences like DPX, EXR or TIFF for this step. But as long as there is many commercials and many projects and our Store is not that big we decided to work with ProRes HQ for this step.

Well the problem is if there is a source file cut in a half and both halfs are used in one EDL, the reel number is the same, so the exported second half file from Davinci overwrites the first one. Yes There is a option to change the reelnames, but thats not good for the EDLs.

Well I heard about "Frankenstein Movie clips" which is a movie clip that contains two parts of timecode. Like if there are two videos that should be named the same for an EDL but timecodes are not continuous.

I couldnt find anything on google in fact I dont even know how those files are called.

Thanks for the info about those files it will be a great help.
