Google+ Invites

Google+ has finally made it easy to invite new users. Thought some people here might be interested in signing up. So here's my invite link: https://plus.google.com/_/notifications/ngemlink?path=/?gpinv=6YgqowrVQ2g:yiNSi3h5jTw (supposedly it will only work for 150 sign-ups, though I know some people have managed to use it for more than that). There are a lot of filmmakers already on there, and it's definitely an interesting place to hang out. Kind of like a cross between Twitter and Facebook, but for grown-ups. :hmm:

It's suppose to be the Facebook killer in time...at least that's what a few tech/web heads have said. I'm in bed with Google...so that's fine with me.

Once it has wider adoption, I can see it really being a threat to FB. At the moment, there just aren't enough people there. That being said, I've already met some incredibly awesome people on G+. So for me, FB is for connecting mostly with people I already know, and G+ is for meeting new people. And Twitter is just for stalking people.

I've had it for several weeks now and have logged in about twice. I don't see the point and I suspect that not many non-Tech savvy people will be interested in moving over to a similar service (from Facebook) for no discernible reason.

The main thing I'm finding is that Google+ is great for networking and meeting new people. There are all sorts of filmmakers on there, and I think because it's a smaller community, people tend to follow others back more readily than they might on Twitter, and it doesn't feel quite as much like it's just for people you actually know like on Facebook. I've "met" some fantastic people there already.

The tech community on Google+ is big, but so is the creative community (and especially the community where the two intersect). It kind of made my night last night when Philip Bloom followed me back.

I've honestly started spending more time there than on Facebook or Twitter now. Although I spend too much time on all three, to be honest.

I've been using it for a little while (Gabriel Ricard), but I've yet to really encounter any networking or opportunities to meet new people that I don't already get on Facebook. That may or may not change over time.
