Fusion 7, A Change of tide in the sotware game?

So recently Fusion 7 (a compositing program) by Blackmagic has been rebranded and there are two versions, 1 Free version and 2 Studio Version. Now tbh most people unless you are a high end studio wont notice the difference. This is intresting because it looks like Fusion 7 is placed inbetween After Effects and Nuke.

Whats most exciting about all this is that there is software out there now for Indie people especially that can go from start to finish with a VFX shot. A decent compositing program was the last peice that wasnt realy there for free.

So if you were to combine Blender 2.7 (Open source, free, totally good enough) and Fusion 7 which Ive not tryed but assume its not that far off Nuke. You could create some amazing stuff without paying a penny.

Its also worth mentioning at the start of next year The Foundary who create Nuke are releasing a free non Commercial version of their software... crazy.

If other companies cough* autodesk* cough* follow this business model of supplying non professionals with a version of their software which has been slightly nerfed to exclude pro features. This could end up being a great time for Indie people like us who in the past had to 'aquire' £2000 software.

Any one else excited about this like I am? I have been waiting years for this sort of thing to kick in!

Fusion is actually by Eyeon, who was recently ( a couple months ago ) acquired by Blackmagic.

This is nothing new, really.. BMD did the same thing shortly after acquiring DaVinci a couple years back too.
