Welcome to IndieTalk! I hope you enjoy the discussions here on filmmaking! I'm from New Jersey as well (though I'm living in the Dominican Republic now).
I saw your film, dude you have some potential as a filmmaker.
Some comments:
- You have some really nice visual compositions in here
- I think you should use less cross dissolves, IMO they should generally not be used very much except in experimental work
- I see that you used shaky cam and a stable tripod shots, I prefer the stable tripod shots in this film. You can use handheld of course, but use it for a reason. I see you switching between the two styles and I'm not seeing the purpose of using both.
- The voiceover in the beginning feels a little bit unnatural, I don't often think using those words in my mind.
- I like how you had the sound of his ears ringing in some parts, I think it could've been used even a little more in the earlier scenes.
- I like the scenes where he's going mad at the end when he's losing his hearing.
- I think there's a lot of films about suicide, so I think the film could've been better if you took a different direction.
Good job man, and welcome to IndieTalk!
