Found a possible self-distro possibility...

Looks like a rather expensive option without knowing what traffic and promotion they'll bring/do for you.

By a quick glance, it could be better than having something sit there and rot but there have to be way better options out there, especially with this being an unknown service.

It came to me through a Jason Brubaker e-mail... which are e-mails to sell e-books and seminars based around filmmaking stuff. So I'm not sure what I think about it yet. I have no full pieces to put out there yet to see if it works or not.

Is this a type of service that people are interested in? I ask because, I am co-developing a service that relates to being able to upload video content and then be able to charge people for viewing the content. I would love to hear if this is something that people would use.

Sure we are....

The problem for you is how you're going to separate yourself from being a "Me too" business. How are you going to separate yourself from the others out there? How are you going to drive viewers to our films? How are you going to maximize our earnings?

My last post was too broad.... and this may be too, but the position that we are taking will allow content creators to upload a video on our site, choose the pricing that you prefer, receive an embed code, and then place the film on your own site. That's the basic gist of it. We are working on an implementation that allows anyone that shares your content via Facebook/Twitter would receive a discount on the film.

I do see your point on the possibility of being a "Me too", and honestly we are still in the development phase. I appreciate the questions, because those are things that we are toiling over.

give us a basic idea of pricing options, coz otherwise i dont see why people would pay to see movies they havent heard of and that are considered INDIE, and if they did there wouldnt be many people, would i not be better off uploading on youtube and earning money from the advertisement?

So, you're thinking about something like this:
http://distrify.com/

I guess Distrify is a little different, though, since those who share don't exactly get a discount, they get a share of the profits that result from sharing.

What other sites out there offer this kind of alternative to selling ads in your content?
