First Short Film Advice

Hi All,

I started a night class at NYFA and own the 7D and a bit of a beat up lowell light kit. I will be shooting indoors and want to use my camera as opposed to the one provided by the school which is a panasonic. I figure may as well learn with what I plan on using in the future.

The lowell light kit has two spot lights with barn doors and one flood light. I need to buy a couple tripods as they are broke. I have clothes pins, black paper and figure I need some foam boards or diffusion paper. I have some basic blue/orange gels also.

I am doing one of my first short films which will be in an office of a girl being stalked and killed. There will not be complicated shots and no sound. I want to buy accessories for the camera and was thinking what would be most essential.

The camera is hard to handle in my hands to keep steady so thinking about a rig. And was thinking should I get a monitor. I have a tripod already and I see some kits like a B&H Talon 4Kit which may be too much now but better for the future. It seems a bit cheap the price given how much you get so wondering quality also.

Suggestions welcome and being a newbie not sure if I am giving the right info here to answer the question. All comments welcomed.
