first-post First post, sorry if my tone is dry.

Hi,

I'm currently attending college and hoping to be able to afford more classes so I can progress further in my recording technology certification while working on my current degree program. At this time, the only equipment I have is a Panasonic HV-110 camcorder that my mom no longer wants, so any advice regarding settings, lighting, etc., would be appreciated until I have the means to upgrade.
Any advice related to audio or post-production is also welcome, since I'm fairly new to a lot of this and don't have many people I can work with.

When the time comes for you to experiment with filmmaking, you will first need a camera where everything is not "fully automatic". You need to be able to MANUALLY adjust the lens exposure, focus, and audio levels. Your camera should also allow you to plug an external microphone (or two) into it, and allow you to monitor the audio with an earpiece. Plenty of older used cameras are on the market that are reasonably cheap.
