INDIANAPOLIS – Preparing to celebrate its third year, the Indianapolis International Film Festival (IIFF) announces its call for entries. The IIFF will return to Hollywood Bar & Filmworks in the heart of Indianapolis, from April 26-30, 2006. In addition, films will screen at the newly-renovated Indianapolis Museum of Art, and the Indiana Historical Society.
This year, IIFF is pleased to announce a minimum of $2,500 in cash prizes to the winners of the Grand Jury Prizes for Best Feature and Best Short Films. As Sponsorship agreements are finalized, cash prizes may increase. Entry fees range from $35 to $70 depending on time of entry. The final deadline for entry is January 14, 2006. There will be non-cash prizes given to winners in ten categories. Regional prizes will be awarded to the best films from Europe, East Asia, South Asia & the Middle East, Australia, Africa, Latin America, and North America. In addition, prizes will be given for Best Documentary, Best Animated Film, and Best Sports Film. The Hoosier Lens Award will be presented to the Best Film made in Indiana or by an Indiana filmmaker. There will also be a Hoosier Lens Award – Student Division for students from Indiana colleges, universities, and high schools.
Entries to the 2006 festival are open to any film, from any nation, in any language (non-English films must be subtitled), in any genre, style, or original format. “Entering our festival will be even easier this year as we are now Without A Box partners,” said Executive Director Brian Owens. This allows filmmakers all over the world to enter online if they have Without A Box membership. Non-members may find information to enter at the IIFF website, www.indyfilmfest.org. Entries must be submitted on VHS or DVD, and films must be screened in DVD or 35mm formats.
