Fireflies tells the story of a withdrawn Middle Eastern man, played by Essam Ferris, whose frequent visits to a Boston cafe begin to draw the suspicion of the establishment's headwaiter. Cairo born Raouf Zaki produced and directed. The film premiered at the 15th Annual Boston International Film Festival, winning the award for Best Director.
