Finished Shooting + Editing, now to render and burn!

Hey guys, I am finished. And I would really like to show you guys what I have made, and get your guys' feedback. Im still a novice in indy films, so I look forward to geting alot of advice.

I used sony vegas 8.0 for video editing. I have a couple quick questions.

1. What routine do I take, if I wish to send this edited footage to a DVD, so I can play on my TV at home and show my friends and family? ( will it maintain dvd quality? )

2. What should I render it as in your past experiences, if I want to put it up on youtube for you guys to see?

Really appreciate it! thanks

I have an older version of Vegas. I know it has an option to "Make Movie --> Save to DVD" option, but I've never tested it. My suggestion would be to Make/Render the movie, choose the "Save to Hard Drive" option and choose a high quality format that is easily compatible with DVDs, like MPEG NTSC DVD. Then you just need a DVD authoring program to burn it to a DVD -- but this way you will have a saved copy on your hard drive that you can re-burn anytime you need. I thought most versions of Vegas come with DVD Architect, which is a DVD authoring/burning program.

You should also save a version as WMV with a bitrate of around 512kb to 1Mb. These tend to upload well to YouTube.
