Filming vehicles

I was wondering, what are the legalities involved with filming cars like Chevys or Fords. I know video game producers have to get a license to use actual cars in their games, but what would the rules be for films or movies.

as long as you dont show the logo you should be fine. We shot a tv show for a major network and we used a Volkswagon beetle and it was a shot far enough away that the logo was not shown. we were fine

It's okay to show the model, just not the brand. If you are using a lot of the same car, you can do what I did. I took the original grill off my GMC Yukon and replaced it with an after-market grill with no GMC on it. Cost me $50 from Ebay and $40 for my mechanic to put it on. You will see on many TV shows, the crew just tape over the brand.
