Film School

Hey everyone. So after reading everyones comments, I decided that I should go to a film school first. It would help me out a lot and give me connection. So what are some good film schools? Im from Cincinnati and the only one here I can think of is Art Institute, but I dont wanna go there. I looked in The Factory in Pennsylvania, and Vancouver Film School. Any other suggestions? Thanks

You are nearby 2 good film schools - Ohio University and Wright State University. Both schools have consistently shown up on Top Film Schools lists for years. Full Sail is a tech school, but has gained traction.

Just use GOOGLE and look up BEST FILM SCHOOLS...

Like using the equipment and learning at the same time

I'm pretty sure (as in 100% sure) that this is what they do at film schools... When I've been a guest lecturer, the students were all using the equipment in a very hands on way and learning at the same time at OU and Wright State.

Did you think Film School was theory and history only?

From what I heard, Chapman is a pretty decent film school.

And yes, The National Film and Television school accepts US citizens.

I have been looking all over still but cant find the right school. I want to study out in California. UCLA would be to much money for me. Any other good ones out there?

All the good CA film schools are expensive, but besides UCLA, USC, Chapman, Cal Arts, and Loyola Marymount are all well known for having great programs. I'm sure there's more but those are the ones that come to mind.

How MUCH is film school? Paying that kind of money is a risk. I think film school is not worth it. Maybe take a couple of classes and read a book or 3 then move to where ever there's work (most likely Hollywood) and jump in and learn and make connections that way.

Yea I could do that but there is a risk of not making it without a degree or a study of something in film.

Thats a long video lol. I want to go to school out in Cali cause once there I will have connections with people eager to make a movie. I wouldnt mind a summer course or even like a 12 week program.

That sounds sensible. I'd just avoid the 2 year trade techs or USC film school. No point in racking up that kind of debt.

I did the audio post for "Trailerpark," a feature directed by two students at Ohio U as their fourth year project. I know nothing about the program, but the film was pretty good and the must have had a decent budget - they had a whole trailer park at their disposal and burned one of the trailers, plus they had the budget to pay me. (I do wish they had let me do the sound for the trailer. :D )
