I just joined indietalk because I think a lot of filmmakers could use what I have to offer so pls cross post... I have 15 years experience as a feature film publicist that has worked on over 85 film campaigns (I stopped counting after that) for Warner Bros., Disney, Columbia, Paramount, Turner and more.
Now you can benefit from my vast experience and get a professional caliber campaign at a price you can afford!
I've just started offering my services as a PR consultant for films/books that can't afford to hire a full time PR person. What I do is outline a campaign and strategies you can implement. I get to share my vast wealth of experience and studio insider info, and you get a campaign you couldn't afford or even get otherwise: publicists don't and won't do this. There's no money in it and it's a quick way to get and lose clients.
I've recently generated a ton of press for my short film, Little Miss Dewie: a Duckumentary (go to DewieDuck.com to see a trailer) and the film doesn't even have distribution!
So much so that one fest said I'd gotten more for that one 30-minute short film in their fest then they had for their entire festival. It's a major feat, that only a smart and seasoned PR person could do.
I've also gotten Dewie into 20 film festivals, and broken it out of a shorts block, so it had stand alone screenings at major fests like at this year's Connecticut Film Festival, or was the lead film in the shorts block, like it was at the 2009 Sedona Film Festival. I'm fest-savvy and can guide you on the ins and outs of fests - domestic and international. I've dealt with festivals, from Sundance (first five years I was there w/films or talent) to the red carpet at Cannes.
And, I'm the Executive Director of Blue Planet Film Fest which launched in Santa Monica to rave reviews last month. It ran for four days over Labor Day weekend. I also generated a ton of press for it. It got writeups in the Los Angeles Times (http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-activist-film7-2009sep07,0,3044689.story) several other papers, and got had news crews out for our events.
You may have checked the prices of PR firms and found that good ones cost a fortune, and even indie publicists are pricey.
I’ll consult with you for an hour or two and you’ll be good to go. If you want something else down the line, I’ll do 15 minute increments by phone but you may not need it. Hourly rate is $200 per hour and you'll get a professional campaign outlined for you that you can implement in that amount of time. (PR is not rocket science. It's a matter of knowing who to pitch, what to pitch them, and how to do it.
You can Google me: Mira Tweti to see my work and my film credits (IMDB has barely a fraction). Appts by phone or in person. Call 310-574-0911 between 11 am and 7 pm any day or email Mira@Miramarmago.com for an appt. In person or by phone works fine.
