Film Poster in background

Hey everyone, Im shooting my first zero budget feature and I've noticed in one of the scenes you can see a Godfather poster on the wall. I'm wondering can I use that footage without permission? I've seen it in films before, where you can see all kinds of different posters on the walls of dorms and things like that. Do they always get permission for these images?

Probably not always. For big productions, absolutely.

It's an easy fix if the camera is stationary (Even if it isn't, it can still be fixed with motion tracking) and an actor doesn't pass in front of it.

No. Studios HAVE to protect their assets . . . if they don't, anybody and everybody will be showing The Godfather posters in their films and it'll be that much harder for studios to rein it all in later. If caught, expect to get a letter from their attorney and you'll have to shelve the film (or picture your car being towed away).

Yes. For every single one. That is what pre-production is for.
There are editing tricks to get the photo out. Good luck.

This is why you should PLAN for this sort of thing, but I digress.

Either try to take it out in post, reshoot, ask (beg) for official permission, or keep your fingers crossed. There's no single answer.
