This month shooting people launched Film of the Month, which recognizing the very best independent films made and uploaded to shootingpeople.org by its 35,000 members.
Each month, Shooting People Members view and rate their peers film, creating a short list of three. These are then sent to one of Shooting People’s high profile patrons, who give a personal review of each of the three, and choose the Film of the Month. These are then heavily promoted on shootingpeople.org, and through their partner organizations globally. This extended network reaches some 2 million people.
Mike Figgis chose animation short “Zoo” as January’s 2009 film of the month, saying, “Zoo is totally charming. It is a film that is extremely inventive with its use of material-both audio and visual-and it has a stonking soundtrack...Subversive,quirky and loads of fun.”
February’s film of the month will be chosen by New York based patron, Morgan Spurlock. Shooting People’s other patrons include Danny Boyle (Dir. Slumdog Millionaire), Martha Fiennes (Dir. Onegin; Chromophobia), Nick Park (Dir. Chicken Run; Wallace & Grommit), Asif Kapadia (Dir. Far North), Sally Potter (Dir. Rush).
Over 2,750 films have been uploaded to shootingpeople.org/watch in the last 12 months, with more then 1,100,000 viewings, and more then 775,000 unique visits. To enter your film and rate others check out film of the month on shooting people
