Film credits or social media following?

If you had a choice for a lead role between equally qualified actors/actresses, which would you prefer: Legit IMDb TV/film credits or big social media following - as in, say, 100,000+ subscribers on YouTube and 200 Million + views?

With that many views on YouTube and social media, the project easily qualifies for IMDb credit anyways....

Social media following can be bought. I've known a few mediocre musicians that play cover songs in small town bars with 10k or 50k "followers"

Social media following may or may not be legit. Experience is tough to fake.
