Feeling creative today?

Hi there, all you beautiful people!

My name is Natalia, I am a Masters student in Bucharest, Romania, and I am currently working on my diploma project. The Master is in Audio-Visual Communication and my project is a documentary on superstitions.

This is where you all come in. I need your help in illustrating some worldwide superstitions. So if you have a camera, a passion for making videos and willingness to help me, please try to make a short video (or a series of short videos if you are feeling inspired :) ) illustrating a superstition that is common where you live. (E.g. a man walking under a ladder, a cat crossing your path)

After that, take a few minutes to film yourself answering the following questions:
•What was the superstition you illustrated?
•Was there a superstition you really believed in as a child?
•Do you believe in superstitions now?
•What are the most frequent superstitions you have encountered where you live? (most cited or most applied)
•What is the most ridiculous superstition you have ever heard of?
•Do you know of any superstition that is unique to your country or hometown?

Answering the questions is not mandatory. If you don’t want to appear on camera, you don’t have to; just make sure to tell me what the superstition was, even if it seems obvious. Seeing as I am trying to gather as many cultural points of view as possible, what may seem obvious to you might not be so easy to understand for me. If you do choose to answer them, please try to expand on them and motivate, not simply answer “yes/no”. Please only use English, as this will be an international material.

After doing that, send me your work along with your name, country, occupation and age (a must), city and any other details you want to share about yourself. I will credit everyone, so I need those details. I also need them for demographics I will use in the accompanying paper. The deadline for sending me the file/files is April 30th, 2013, as I will need some time for editing purposes.

You can send it via free transfer services, like transferbigfiles.com or sendthisfile.com(needs registering), or any other service you prefer. You can also drop a mail with a YouTube link, making sure to specify within the email that you agree with my using your footage (though I prefer the original file). The email address is tracking.superstitions@gmail.com. If you have any suggestions or questions for me, feel free to add them in the email, I will try my best to answer.

Thanks to all willing to participate in this! I know it will be a great experience and can’t wait to discover the world through others’ lenses! Feel free to pass this message along; the more, the merrier!
