Experience of Amazon Advantage?

Anyone use this service? Thoughts - pros and cons?

Am I right in thinking that you actually send them DVD's that they sell? Why not just sell on Amazon yourself? Interested in people's thoughts.

I use them. You gotta be on Amazon. A lot of people search Amazon for stuff to buy on impulse. If they don't find it or don't stumble upon your product then it's a lost sale. The problem is that Amazon only pays a pathetic 45% of list price, AND recently they've started selling stuff for MORE than list. I have two titles on Amazon that I set at $8.99 list and Amazon is selling them for $9.45 and $10.63!!!! So my advice is DO NOT under price your product or Amazon will just pocket the difference for themselves.

Beware than physical media (CD's, DVD's) will become extinct withing 10 years. Don't expect to sell many DVD's. Manufacture as little as possible.

You should consider createspace.com owned by Amazon.com.

Great advice. Amazon will print, package, and ship. They will also let you know the minimum sales price that you have to set before hand. Unlike the 45% royalty mentioned above, if you sell through CS, they pay out 55% on sales through Amazon and 85% on sales made from your free online store that they set up for you. No upfront fees and at last check, you can purchase a single packaged and shrink wrapped DVD (your own production) for $5 but if you purchase 100 copies of your own DVD they are only $2.97 each.
