Adam & Paul is a stylized, downbeat comedy about two hapless, desperate junkies, tied together by habit and necessity; "Laurel & Hardy on smack in Dublin and waiting for Godot."
It was Ireland’s surprise box office hit of 2004; produced for just less than 400,000 Euros, it grossed over 700,000 Euros in Ireland alone, where it is currently in the top five rental DVDs.
It has won an array of prestigious awards including the Main and Critics Prizes (FIPRESCI award) at the 9th Sofia International Film Festival (SIFF), Best Film at the 2004 Galway Film Fleadh and Best Director at the 2004 Irish Film and Television Awards. ADAM & PAUL also screened to critical acclaim at the 2005 Berlin International Film Festival in the prestigious Panorama section.
The London Premiere will take place on Saturday 4 June, 11.00 am at the UGC Shaftesbury Avenue, followed by Q&A with director Lenny Abrahamson. Lenny has directed commercials for television worldwide, including Carlsberg’s ‘Flatmates’ and ‘Nightclub’. Adam & Paul’ is his debut feature film.
This is an excellent opportunity to discover how the filmmakers took their idea from the page to the big screen, with all the inevitable lucky breaks, mistakes, and pitfalls along the way.
