EXCELLENT night of Baseball

I am forever a Yankees fanatic. So, tonight was a perfect night of baseball.

Red Sox on the verge of winning 3 - 2 against the last place Baltimore Orioles, bottom of the ninth they're Ace closer on the mound. They were one strike away from winning.

Yankees who are already Eastern Division Champs with home field advantage are up 7 - 0 in the eighth inning against the Tampa Bay Rays, who are praying to live one more day to force a single game playoff against the Red Sox for the Wild Card.

While the collapse of the Yankees in the 8th and 9th might make the haters yell with victory. The fact is, by the 6th they had their minor league team on the field.

The Yanks were one strike from winning 7 - 6 when a pinch hitter slams a home-run to tie the game.

How bad are the Rays? Yeah, they just completed an amazing comeback. But, the Yanks weren't pitching any of their good pitchers. They had their worst pitcher on the mound. He kept the Rays down for 3 innings, going into the bottom of the 12th

Within 5 minutes everything changed.

Bottom of the ninth in Baltimore, one strike and the Red Sox win. A hit, then another. The game now tied 3 - 3. Then another. The last place Orioles BEAT the Red Sox. Oh HAPPY DAYS!!!

Back to the Yankees/Rays

As they post the Boston Score the fans go nuts. Sinfully many Rays fans had left in the 7th when they were down 7 - 0. NEVER leave a game till the final out is made.

Then it came, Evan Longoria hits a home run just over the left field fence.

What an exciting, excellent night of baseball. It was completely unreal.

I sat here in Maryland and watched from the 7th for da O's to beat the stinking red sox....lol But also i still have my condo in Seminole fl 3 min from st pete and 10 min from tampa i saw the replay of the Rays beat thoes damm dirty yankees..oh what glorious times these are!!!

Now, lets get our facts straight.

By the 6th inning there were no Yankees on the field. The Rays were playing the Yankees minor league team. Scott Proctor pitched 3 innings.

Proctor pitched 8 innings for the Yankees this year. He hadn't pitched in the majors 2009-2010. In 8 innings he had 28 baserunners and an era of 12.

This awful pitcher went 3 innings against the Rays. It was inevitable that the Rays were going to win. The Yanks had no pitchers left. Girardi wasn't going to waste any of his good pitchers on this game.

Yet, the Rays almost blew it in the 12th against the minor league Yanks.

The Rays won, because the Yanks didn't care.

Dem's the facts.

Let's Go YANKEES!

I think the Rays are a much better team than the sox and can / have been having a good year this year.
so i think the rays have a really good shot..but thoes tigers..man..they are good!

Tigers are a great team. It's gonna be hard to beat Verlander. The Yanks have their work cut out for them. It's made especially difficult in a short 5 game series where Verlander's going to pitch 2. So, I won't be surprised if the Yanks don't make it past the first round.

The Rays have great pitching and no hitting. Seriously Procter pitched 3 innings last night. You have no idea how pathetic that is. It took him like 5 pitches to give the Yanks their last lost to Boston. 26 men on base in 8 innings with a 12.00 ERA. He's done. He was picked up off the scrap pile and given a chance. He's sucked every time he's sent out there. He can't pitch anymore. But, yet the Rays couldn't hit him. That's very sad.

You think they'd have scored 6 runs if a good pitcher was in there? It wasn't hits that got the runs, it's was the Yankees pitcher walking and hitting the batters that gave them their first runs. In a real game, the 7th belongs to Soriano. The 8th Robertson. It was 7 - 6 going into the 9th, The Rays didn't the greatest closer Mariano Rivera in yesterday's game. Why? Because the Yanks wanted the Rays to win. They didn't care. If they did, they cared to see Boston be knocked out.

The Rays didn't win because they're good. The Yanks handed them the game. The Yanks handed them all three games. The Yankees accomplished everything they needed to before this last series. This was just go out and play, just don't play too hard.

The Rays have the slimmest chance of going to the World Series. If somehow the Yanks and Rays meet in the ALCS. Then the Rays will see the real Yankees. It'll be a six inning affair.
