Excellent example of editing improv

Okay, so, I can't personally verify that this scene was improvised, but it sure does feel like it. Plus, it was an Apatow production, so... I think it's a fair assumption that this 10-minute scene is classic Apatow-produced improv:

Pretty hilarious, but obviously way too long (and I'm thinking that they probably shot a lot more than the 10-minutes we see here). The theatrical-release version is comedic perfection, in my opinion:

It's interesting that you should bring this up because, for me, Bridesmaids was an exercise in under editing. I enjoyed the film enough and it was a decent comedy but I left thinking that if they could've trimmed about 20 minutes to a half hour off it then it would've been really good.

The released cut of that scene, at 1:23 is still a pretty stretched joke and I think there was far too much of that in Bridesmaids. But if each of those jokes that been 5 times as long... crikey...

Hats off to that young actress (Peter Frampton's daughter, Mia Rose) for keeping up with Kristen Wiig during those exchanges.

I liked Bridesmaids. Coulda been a wee bit shorter, but some very funny set pieces and bits.
