Effects on this music video

I just saw this music video and think its amazing. Im not sure if i just like the location or the effects in it or a combination of the 2. I just thought it was really cool and wanted to share it with you all.

Also how would i be able to do effects like that? Is it just motion tracking?

This looks like an after effects 101 class.

Theres not that much tracking going on, more key framed than not. Most of the text stuff is just a corner pin lined up to something on the plate. The grunge stuff is using a virtual camera in AE or similar. It looks like most of the camera moves were done in post.

The individual animations for the text elements were more time consuming than adding effects to the entire video.

Yeah it looks like a combination of motion tracking, some shatter effects that you can learn about from Andrew Kramer.

When the text goes behind him, he's either rotoscoped out or he was filmed in front of a green screen and composited into the shot the same as the text (you'd need some motion tracking for him as well if gs is the case)
