I just found this site while surfing another indie site. I am excited to see such a fully developed forum in place.
About a year and a half ago, some fellow film-makers and I started a group, based in Knoxville, TN, called TiPTOE (Tennessee independent Production and Talent Organization East). We are a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the support of indie film and film-makers in our region. More info is available at tiptoefilms.org. We are really just getting started in this endeavor, however we have accomplished a few fairly significant things in our short existence. We have produced one short film, entitled "Popcorn Boy" which will debut at the Secret City Film Festival in Oak Ridge, Tennesse (the birthplace of the atomic bomb) on Aug. 13, (www.secretcityfilmfestival.com/). We are also developing a relationship with one of the largest theater chains in the country, Regal Cinemas, which is based here in Knoxville.
While I am proud of what we have done, I have no experience in this kind of enterprise. I am often frustrated by my own inexperience in the organizational end of our organization. My background and experience is in episodic and "category" television programming as (depending on the show) director, camera-op, gaffer, grip or P.A. When it comes to developing our group into the film-making support structure we initially envisioned, I am often at a loss.
If anyone can offer any kind of suggestion to further our goals, the entire indie-film community of East Tennessee would be eternally endebted.
