Dressing a bloody shirt.

I have a couple characters who have blood-soaked shirts (they were shot), and I'd like to know what folks have used to make a convincing (and large) blood stain on clothing.

I already have several containers of food-colored Karo Syrup for pour-on blood, but it's too thick and sticky to apply on clothes. I'd like to pre-dress all the garments so they're dry when we shoot.

I have Red/Blue food coloring, and I was thinking about cutting it with water and doing some experiments on an old shirt, but if you have some tips I'm all ears.

OMG, we shoot in 7 days ....

Thanks folks!

Thomas

Latex paint may work.
Should retain that plastic-y shiny wet blood look when dry.
Pint size or smaller from a craft store should do.

Of course, the shirts will be destroyed unless you just wanna walk around freakin' people out, so...

A bullet wound that is less than a minute old will still be bleeding fairly well, even if the bullet didn't hit any organs or major blood vessels. Arterial wounds will spray. Blood from organs is much darker than venous blood. Wet is going to be the best way to do it.
