🎬 IndieTalk - Filmmaking and Screenwriting help site and community. By filmmakers, for filmmakers since 2003
Our films are available on Amazon.com either as a download, or as a DVD. 99% of our
sales are on DVD.
Our films have been available on a half-dozen sites as downloads, and there have been
ZERO sales.
The problem, (whether you sell DVDs OR downloads), is drawing people to your title.
If they don't know about it, they can't/won't buy it. The advantage of having your DVD
on the shelf in a video store is that people can SEE IT, pick it up, read the front and back
of the box, and hopefully buy it. The ideal situation would be to have a download site
that will feature or promote your individual title...
I didn't know that Amazon had video downloads. Is that through their Advantage program or do you have to go through Tunecore or Stonehenge Productions to get a video download sold on Amazon?
I was once with FlickRocket. I think I sold about 1% of my overall sales through that download site. Their fees were so high that I just eventually pulled my title off of that site. Not worth it.
