Do You Have Rendering Issues in Final Cut Pro?

For all you smarty pants Pros, you probably know this already. But, I just came across it on youtube and it floored me.

If you ever drag clips to the timeline and for some unknown reason have to render it. Here's something to check out first.

Click on SEQUENCE

Then SETTINGS

In the QUICKTIME VIDEO SETTINGS box there's a COMPRESSOR SETTING. As long as the compressor setting matches your footage, it will remove the need to render.

For example: My compressor setting was on H264, but my footage was ProRes 422. Once I changed the setting to ProRes 422 I nolonger had to render.

It's a miracle. Kind of.

Since many people use ProRes 422 nowadays, the version must match completely. Such as I have (LT), so having ProRes 422 alone won't do the trick. I need ProRes 422 (LT) in compressor (unfortunately my 6.0.6 does not offer that compression) So I have to redo all my footage.
