Do some people really write for this reason?

I've read many websites warning against this, or stating that it's hard, but are there people who chose screenwriting not because they like writing or are passionate about writing and movies, or other reasons, but purely for financial reasons? In other words, are there people who chose screenwriting simply because they think they can get really rich really quickly? Thank you for reading and answering!:)

The two aren't mutually inclusive. And of course, yes. There will always be people that do things soley/mainly for financial reasons. Regardless of their chances of succes in a given industry, it's no different from anywhere else. People need to earn money.

Of course. If your dad is say Francis Ford Coppola for instance. Why wouldn't you believe it is possibly worth it? Most born writers probably figure novels is the way to go.
