First off, I know that I'm in the wrong section... But the DIY stuff is all premiumed off! I have no budget, so that brings me here. If there's a better place to post this, please let me know and I'll repost there and delete this one.
I've been experimenting with building my own little steadicam rig for a while now, and I've seen designs like the "Silver Flyer" and such. One thing that always struck me was the use of a gimbal. Couldn't a short section of rope be used instead? I'm talking ~1/2" long between parts. If the handle had an overhang and the "cam" part came around from the bottom, wouldn't that work? I could MSPaint up a drawing, but I doubt that that would be appreciated...
