DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY (Television Sitcom)

ARE YOU OUR DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY?

Meospect Media needs Director of Photography for our new TV Sitcom Series.

We would like to establish a long-term working relationship with a suitable DOP/ Lead Camera as our goal is to keep the show’s style consistent and maintain logical progression each season – ideally, we want the same Director of Photography for all episodes in all upcoming seasons.

PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS

Working Title: “Call me Oscar”
Season 01: Episodes 001 (Pilot) to 006
Medium & Genre: Television Sitcom (multi-camera style, shot with single camera)
Running Time: 22 min. per episode
Affiliation: Independent; Non-Union; Insured
Location: Toronto Area, Theater/ Studio Set, No live audience 1st Season

Schedule:
Pre-Production – starting Mid-June/ July, 2013
Production – Aug. 26 to Sep. 01, 2013
(incl. build, run-throughs, 3-day shoot, strike)
12.5-hr days (10 hrs work + 2.5 hr meals & breaks)

Broadcast:
Europe & Africa – starting January 2014

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completed relevant Post-Secondary Education (or equivalent theoretical knowledge) – final year BFA or current MFA students can also apply
  • Hands-on experience with Studio/ Set Lighting AND Camera Operation for Film and/or TV
  • Insured own equipment preferred OR Canon EOS C300 experience preferred, but not mandatory
  • Cinematography Geek: has to know, be up-to-date, and be genuinely excited about all tech details
  • Sitcom shooting styles knowledge – single and multi-camera, past and present, British and American
  • Highly Collaborative and Receptive: need to work closely with show’s Creators, Director, Designer
  • No Nonsense: Ready to roll up sleeves, check ego at the door, and be pleasant, easy to work with
  • Leadership Skills: Professional, patient, and tolerant; Able to positively supervise and instruct a tight-knit crew of camera, lighting, and grip assistants
  • Conscientious of Health & Safety relating to gear handling/set up and electrical hazards
  • Ready to embrace the multicultural setting of the show’s premise and the cultural diversity on set
  • Preferably (but not obligatory) of African origin AND/OR Eastern European origin

COMPENSATION

Paid, 3 meals x day, transportation
(On strict micro-budget for Season 1, but making considerable efforts to emulate union rates and working standards)
