NEW YORK, JANUARY 11TH – North Lake Films is pleased to announce that Late Bloomer, the award-winning, buzzed-about short film by emerging director Craig Macneill, has been selected for the 2005 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
Craig was inspired to make Late Bloomer while shooting a documentary on the film’s writer, Clay McLeod Chapman. Chapman is the creator and star of “The Pumpkin Pie Show, the off-Broadway sensation that Time Out New York called a “downtown cult hit.”
Late Bloomer is a humorous initiation into one boy’s first seventh-grade sexual education class, loosely based on the tales of horror and fantasy writer H.P. Lovecraft.
Late Bloomer will precede New Market’s hot feature, Rock School, at Sundance.
The film’s screening dates, times, and locations are:
• Friday, January 21 (opening night), 7:30pm & 10:30pm, Broadway 6
• Wednesday, January 26, 3:00pm, Egyptian
• Friday, January 28, 8:30pm, Library
• Saturday, January 29, 4:30pm, Yarrow
• Sunday, January 30, 3:30pm, Broadway 5
Called “a brilliant little gem … Fine example of short filmmaking” (Film Threat), and “H.P. Lovecraft goes to 7th grade Sex Ed class...Cute funny film is a treat to horror fans” (Ain’t It Cool News), Late Bloomer has gained fans and generated buzz coast to coast.
Late Bloomer was also featured in the 2004 CineVegas, Rhode Island, St. Louis, Los Angeles Short, and One Reel International Film Festivals. The film won The Audience Award for Best Short Film at the Lake Placid Film Festival in June 2004.
Craig has been building a career as a writer and director of films, music videos, and commercials since graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1999 with a degree in film production.
